It’s a lovely design touch and backed up by long strips of reflective material at either side of the pockets, adding visibility in low light to this classy jersey’s list of appealing attributes.Ĭhange the zip design and for as long as my weekly mileage stays high and my pizza consumption low, the Santini Mito Spillo jersey will be a firm favourite in my summer cycling wardrobe. What’s the best way to approach the Italian culture? The polka dot design on the pockets is carried on below where the eye-catching orange dots become reflective as they reach the hem of the jersey – which, while we’re here, features a very good silicone gripper which kept the jersey anchored to the Santini Redux Fortuna bibshorts which I rode in with this top. The ubiquitous three-pocket array at the rear is eminently stuffable, thanks to its stretch material and easy access. Italophiles will appreciate the tiny tricolore sewn into the nape of the jersey, while the Santini branding is kept to a minimum for an altogether stylish look. I can’t say I’ve ever had a jersey zip move from where I’ve positioned it, so the need for security has always felt a little strange to me. The gossamer-thin sleeves especially are as close as cycling kit gets to fetish-wear – smooth on the skin, absolutely skin-tight, silky. Um, anyway… The single fiddle with the whole get-up is the cam-lock zip currently favoured by Santini (and which I wasn’t particularly enamored with on the company’s Redux Genio vest either). Supplied to Santini by fellow Italian company Sitip, the Microsense material employed across the body of the Santini Mito Spillo offers, in the fabric manufacturer’s words (albeit Google-translated), ‘Sensual feel next to the body, with quick-drying comfort for a luxurious look’. The level of stretch in the fabric negates any restriction of movement, and despite its simple appearance responds well as a technical fabric.īuy the Santini Mito Spillo jersey now from Wiggle for £110 As one might expect of an aero garment, the Santini Mito Spillo jersey is exceptionally form-fitting, but not at the expense of riding comfort.
